Every project that gets built correctly has to answer these same questions (what's actually required, what it depends on, what could go wrong) before real investment begins. A price quoted before that work is done is a guess with a signature on it. A time-and-materials estimate without that work is the same guess with no signature at all: no defined scope, no ceiling, no accountability to the number. The work doesn't disappear; it gets buried in the padding, unpriced and unscheduled, and surfaces mid-build, on your timeline: exactly the problems this stage exists to catch, handled at the worst possible moment. Blueprint puts that work out front, priced and scheduled on its own, so planning, alignment, cost, and timeline are established on purpose, not discovered by accident halfway through a build. Ask any firm quoting a number up front where the validation work went. The answer is the difference between a plan and a wager.
